Bisley Shooting Ground Name the Crane Competition Results

Posted on 9th December, 2020

We are pleased to announce that after much deliberation, we have decided on a name for our crane. Thank you for all your entries, however congratulations go to Michael Stevenson who suggested "Colossus". We particularly enjoyed all the derivatives of "Craney Mc Crane face" so thanks again
For anyone who is interested, the definition of Colossus is "a person or thing of immense size or power", so we thought it very apt. The Colossus of Rhodes statue was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and it represented the god Helios. The name has been used to describe many other entities over the years, such as powerful computers as well as a fictional character from the Marvel comics. So hopefully within the name Colossus there is something for everyone.
