What is Sporting Clay Shooting?

Our main ground, called Cottesloe Heath, is one of the best grounds for Sporting Clay Shooting in the country. However if you are new to Clay Pigeon Shooting you may be wondering what Sporting Clay Shooting Shooting is, and if it is for you.

Sporting Clay Shooting is one of the fastest growing disciplines for Clay Pigeon Shooting.  The sport was originally bought about to simulate live quarry shooting by releasing flying clay targets from automated traps all within a natural woodland setting.  It provides the opportunity to really challenge yourself as the clays are released from the traps in a variety of trajectories, angles, speeds, elevations and target size.

Sporting Clay Shooting is the nearest discipline to Game Shooting as it aims to simulate the different targets a shooter comes across in the field.

However many people who enjoy Sporting Clays will never have any interest in shooting live game.  It is safe, exciting, challenging and fun. Hitting the target requires skill, timing and hand-eye coordination, but there’s nothing quite like that feeling when you pull the trigger and see the target explode into a million pieces!
