Richie started his career as an apprentice Mechanical Engineer in a weapons research establishment before joining the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers in 1990.The Shooting Manager John Heagren, who has been described as “a master of the art”, is not only one of the best shots in the country but more importantly is an expert in the skill of coaching. John has been leading and developing the team of instructors at Bisley Shooting Ground for the last 27 years.
Our experienced team of instructors are on hand to teach all levels of experience for either game or clay shooting, from complete beginners to experienced shots.

Tony’s introduction to shooting was at the age of ten with a .410 shooting at a coke can swinging from a tree. This soon moved on to clays, but the seed was forever sown by that first coke can!Instructor - Multi Discipline Coach
Michael started shooting at the age of 11, where he shot socially with his family for 2 years, before gaining his first cap for Great Britain when he was just 14.Instructor
Nick Gander is a peripatetic shooting instructor and coach with over 50 years’ experience of live quarry and clay target shooting. During this time he has shot both game and clays at home and abroad.Instructor
After completing her LANTRA coaching and loading qualifications she became Sussex Ladies Champion in 2009 whilst being pregnant with her daughter.Instructor
Roger has been a keen shot since the age of ten when his uncle taught him to shoot on his farm in Oxford.Instructor
Robbie has been shooting for over 40 years and thoroughly enjoys all aspects of sporting clay and game shooting.Instructor
After spending 35yrs in the motor trade Steve decided to follow his passion and become a shooting instructor. He started shooting with his father at the age of 10 and was immediately hooked.Instructor
Martin took up clay shooting in 1984 after he left HM Armed Forces, initially shooting Sporting and Down the Line.Instructor
Derek joined the Bisley instructing team in 2000, having been involved with clay shooting and field sports since his early twenties.Instructor
Clive originates from a farming background and attended the Hertfordshire College of Agriculture in the early 80’s.Instructor
Passing the Association of Professional Shooting Instructors qualification in 2019 led to starting her training at the Holland & Holland shooting ground before joining the team at Bisley in 2021.Instructor
Jem started his shooting career aged 9 with air rifles, and by 16 had his first shotgun certificate, giving him over fifty years’ experience in the shooting field to date.Instructor
With over 25 years of instructing experience, Guy believes in strongly applying the basics of good balance and stance and providing a foundation that is built around improving core skills.Instructor
William has been an instructor with us at Bisley since 2019 having taken his qualifications that same year.
