Michael Bovingdon has been a key member of the Bisley Shooting Ground team since December 2021 and has recently been promoted to Shooting Manager, effective the 1st January 2026. Previously serving as Shooting Development Manager, Michael has coordinated and promoted multiple shooting disciplines across the National Shooting Centre, bringing professionalism, technical expertise, and a calm, intelligent approach to everything he does.
Taking his first shot at the age of 11, Michael spent two years shooting socially with his family before earning his first cap for Great Britain at just 14. An accomplished GB Olympic Trap shooter, he achieved Number 4 in the World Junior Rankings and has been an athlete on British Shooting’s World Class Programme for the past three years. Michael is a former British Champion and has made finals in consecutive European Championships.
Michael holds a CPSA Level 3 Senior Coach qualification and is certified in coaching English Sporting, Skeet, and Trap. As a full-time Multi Discipline Coach, he now channels his enthusiasm and passion for shooting into helping clients of all levels develop their skills, take pride in their progress, and enjoy the sport to the fullest.
Raised on his family’s beef farm in Windsor, Michael has a deep love for the countryside and continues to live and work on the farm, combining his professional shooting career with his roots in rural life.
Richie Vallance, Head of Operations at Bisley, commented:
"Michael is exactly the person to carry the baton forward, building on the excellent work of his predecessor and continuously improving Cottesloe Heath."
